IGBOHO — In a grand display of community synergy and appreciation for academic leadership, the Oke Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum has officially conferred a prestigious Award of Excellence on Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO).

The presentation ceremony, which drew the attendance of prominent youth leaders, student union delegates, and community stakeholders across the 10 local government areas of Oke Ogun, was held to celebrate the Vice-Chancellor’s monumental developmental strides since the university's inception.

A Recognition of Pioneer Leadership

Speaking during the presentation, the leadership of the Oke Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum noted that the award was strictly merit-based. It was given in profound recognition of Prof. Babayemi’s administrative brilliance, rapid infrastructural mobilization, and his unyielding commitment to positioning FUNATO as a world-class institution in record time.

"Since assuming office as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babayemi has not only laid a formidable foundation for the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, but he has also ensured that the institution maintains a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship with its host communities," the Forum stated. "He has brought our long-awaited dream of a federal university in Oke Ogun to a vibrant reality."

FUNATO: A Catalyst for Oke Ogun's Development

In his acceptance speech, a visibly elated Professor Babayemi expressed his deep gratitude to the youths of Oke Ogun, describing them as the vital backbone of the institution’s success. He reiterated that FUNATO’s core mandate is not just to issue degrees, but to serve as a revolutionary catalyst for the agricultural, technological, and socio-economic transformation of the entire region and Nigeria at large.

The Vice-Chancellor further assured the community that the university management remains committed to prioritizing local content, youth empowerment, and cutting-edge agricultural innovations that will directly benefit the people of Oke Ogun—often regarded as the food basket of Oyo State.

As FUNATO prepares to welcome its pioneer cohort of students for the 2026/2027 academic session across its 30 NUC-approved undergraduate programs, this timely award signals a solid vote of confidence from the grassroots.

Ayekooto Media extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi and commends the Oke Ogun Indigenous Youths Solidarity Forum for promoting a culture of excellence and community partnership.
