ABUJA— The multi-million naira corruption scandal rocking the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken a highly dramatic twist. 'Ayekooto Media' can authoritatively report that the embattled Director, Mufutau Bello, has allegedly absconded from his duty post, abandoning his office keys in a desperate bid to evade imminent arrest by anti-graft agencies. 

According to impeccable insider sources at the JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, Mr. Bello, who traditionally takes his office keys home at the close of work, uncharacteristically left them behind on Wednesday evening and has since failed to report for duty.

The Disappearance
“He has run away,” a top-level whistleblower confidentially confirmed to the 'Ayekooto Media' Investigative Desk this morning. “He normally takes his office keys home, but he left them yesterday and has completely disappeared. It is obvious he is running from the EFCC and ICPC operatives.”

The sudden disappearance comes just 24 hours before his expected forced exit this Friday, August 14. 

As exclusively reported by 'Ayekooto Media' in Parts 1 and 2 of this investigative series, Mr. Bello is at the center of a massive N500 million probe. Leaked internal documents labeled 'Institutional Governance Series (IGS-012)' revealed devastating allegations, including a N43.2 million fictitious vehicle contract awarded to De-damak Nigeria Ltd, and the operation of an unauthorized $589,000 dollar domiciliary account that bypassed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Anti-Graft Agencies on High Alert
With his sudden disappearance, the stakes have officially been raised. Sources indicate that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), who have been silently reviewing the petitions, are now likely to declare the fleeing director wanted if he fails to officially hand over on Friday.

Mr. Bello is no stranger to controversy. In October 2025, he notoriously walked out on the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education Examination Bodies during a probe into JAMB's financial records, an action that earned him widespread condemnation and threats of arrest from lawmakers.

It appears the chickens have finally come home to roost. As the self-acclaimed saints of the civil service run for cover, 'Ayekooto Media' remains on the ground to monitor whether Mr. Bello will resurface on Friday or officially become a fugitive of the law.
