OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT: Igboho Kingdom Debunks Miyetti Allah’s Allegations, Reaffirms Support for Sunday Igboho`

IGBOHO KINGDOM DEBUNKS FALSE ALLEGATIONS BY MIYETTI ALLAH, REAFFIRMS UNWAVERING SUPPORT FOR CHIEF SUNDAY ADEYEMO (IGBOHO), AND COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU’S SECURITY SYNERGY.

For Immediate Release

Date:Thursday, 9 July 2026

Location: Igboho, Orelope Local Government, Oyo State.

The good people of Igboho Kingdom, speaking unequivocally through the paramount ruler, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Joel Olalere Olawuwo, the Alepata of Igboho and Chairman of the Oorelope Traditional Council, in conjunction with the leadership of Ifelodun Omo Igboho, led by its President-General, Alhaji Hammed Adegoke, hereby issue this official statement to set the records straight regarding the recent security clearance operations within our territory.

Our attention has been drawn to a misleading and highly provocative petition authored by the Fulani Association, Miyetti Allah, directed to the Oyo State Government and security agencies. The petition falsely alleges that Chief Oloye Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) threatened their members and demands his arrest following his recent rescue operations in the region.

We hereby strongly and categorically debunk these baseless allegations and present the undisputed truth to the Nigerian public, the State Government, and the Federal Government.

1. The Reality of the Security Crisis and the True Culprits

For several years, the peaceful, agrarian community of Igboho and the wider Òkè-Ògùn region endured a horrific siege. Our forests were hijacked by vicious elements who subjected our farmers to slaughter, kidnapped our sons and daughters for outrageous ransoms, and raped our women. Economic activities were grounded, and our people lived in perpetual terror.

It is a well-documented fact that many of the perpetrators of these heinous crimes hid under the guise of cattle rearing. Instead of writing frivolous petitions and raising false alarms against those defending their ancestral lands, we strongly advise the leadership of Miyetti Allah to look inward, take responsibility, and focus its energy on exposing and flushing out the bad eggs and criminal syndicates operating within their ranks. The era of covering up criminality with ethnic victimhood is over.

2. Unwavering Support for Chief Sunday Adeyemo (Igboho)

Chief Oloye Sunday Adeyemo is a true, proud, and patriotic son of Igboho. He did not come to our land to attack law-abiding citizens of any ethnic group; he came to defend his fatherland from unrepentant bandits and kidnappers.

The intervention of Chief Adeyemo and his 'Iru Ekun' security outfit was a necessary, targeted rescue operation that finally dislodged the terrorists making our forests uninhabitable. His actions gave hope, restored peace, and renewed the confidence of our people. The Igboho Traditional Council and the entire citizenry stand firmly by him. We are immensely proud of him, and we state emphatically that he is an asset to the security and peace of the South-West, not a threat.

3. Appreciation for Federal and State Security Synergy

The unprecedented success of the recent security clearance operation in our forests would not have been possible without the tacit support, enabling environment, and strategic understanding of the Federal Government.

We express our deepest and most sincere appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his administration's genuine commitment to local and national security. The President’s support for community-driven intelligence and localized security interventions is yielding tangible results in Òkè-Ògùn.

We equally extend our profound gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Chief of Defence Staff, the Amotekun Corps, and all other security apparatuses. Their synergy and silent cooperation with Chief Sunday Igboho’s 'Iru Ekun' outfit proved that when indigenous intelligence marries state security forces, terrorism can be decisively defeated.

Conclusion: A Commitment to Lawful Coexistence

The people of Igboho Kingdom are peace-loving, accommodating, and hospitable. Our desire is simple: that every law-abiding citizen, regardless of their tribe, religion, or ethnic origin, should be able to live, farm, and trade in our community without the fear of being kidnapped or murdered.

However, our hospitality must never be mistaken for weakness. We remain committed to supporting all lawful measures that promote justice, security, and development for all residents.

May Almighty God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria, grant wisdom to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, protect our security personnel, bless Chief Oloye Sunday Adeyemo, and grant lasting peace to Igboho Kingdom.

Signed:

His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr.Joel Olalere Olawuwo

The Alepata of IgbohoPermanent Chairman,Oorelope Traditional Council

Alhaji Hammed Adegoke
