An Open Letter to SP Yakubu Aremu Muhammed: Welcome to Igboho
By David Alani Ige | Publisher, Ayekooto Media
Dear Superintendent of Police (SP) Yakubu Aremu Muhammed,
On behalf of Ayekooto Media and the good people of this great town, I officially welcome you to your new posting as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Igboho.
Your reputation precedes you. We are well aware of your commendable track record at your former post in the Apata Division. You arrive in Igboho with a profile of competence, and it is our earnest hope that you will not only maintain that standard but elevate it during your tenure here.
However, as you assume duty, it is crucial that you understand the terrain. Igboho is a microcosm of the typical Nigerian society—a deeply historical town with its own unique complexities, vibrant culture, and diverse interests. It is a town of passionate people who respect the law but are highly sensitive to how authority is exercised.
Because of these complexities, you must tread with utmost care. You will encounter various matters—some straightforward, others deeply rooted in community dynamics. We urge you to handle every single issue with the greatest degree of professionalism, fairness, and emotional intelligence. The badge you wear represents the law, not the highest bidder.
We strongly charge you to shun every form of financial inducement, extortion, or political bias. Let your conscience and the constitutional mandate of the Nigeria Police Force guide your actions. When the police do their job with integrity, the community becomes their greatest ally. If you stand for justice, the people of Igboho will stand with you.
Do your best. Serve with honor. Make this town safer than you met it.
We wish you a happy, successful, and peaceful stay in our community. But remember, the eyes of the public are wide open, and the pen of the press is sharp.
Tread wisely, SP Muhammed. The Parrot is watching.
Yours in community service,
David Alani Ige
