TAIPEI, TAIWAN —

Nigeria is strengthening its engagement with Taiwan’s technology, agriculture and innovation ecosystem as a high-level Nigerian delegation associated with the Hybrid Culture, Technology and Innovation Promotion Initiative (HyCuTIPI) heads to Taiwan for the 2026 Taiwan Smart Agriweek.

The delegation, according to information circulated by Ambassador David A. Adejuwon, President of HyCuTIPI, has received Taiwan entry clearance and is expected to participate in the major international agricultural technology and innovation gathering.

The mission is, however, expected to go far beyond participation in an exhibition.

It is designed as a strategic engagement aimed at exposing Nigerian university leaders, entrepreneurs, legal and business professionals and other stakeholders to cutting-edge Taiwanese technologies, research, smart agriculture, industrial innovation and investment opportunities that could potentially be adapted to Nigerian conditions.

A POWERFUL NIGERIAN DELEGATION

The delegation brings together an impressive combination of political leadership, academia, business, law and international development.

Among those listed are:

Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, OFR, CON, SAN — Pro-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti and Grand Patron of HyCuTIPI;

Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole — Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti and Trustee, HyCuTIPI;

Prof. Jacob Babayemi — Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho;

Prof. Adesola Ajayi — Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan;

Ms. Safina Mohammed — Chief Executive Officer, Alltine Group of Companies;

Barrister Peter Kayode Abodunrin — Omega Reigns Chambers and Legal Adviser, HyCuTIPI; and

Ambassador David A. Adejuwon — President, HyCuTIPI.

The composition of the delegation underscores the multidimensional character of the mission.

It brings together senior academics who can facilitate knowledge and research partnerships, business leaders who can explore commercial opportunities, a legal practitioner who can support institutional and investment arrangements, and experienced national figures capable of providing strategic direction.

TAIWAN SMART AGRIWEEK: THE BIG OPPORTUNITY

The delegation’s participation in the 2026 Taiwan Smart Agriweek is particularly significant because of Nigeria’s enormous agricultural potential and the urgent need to introduce more technology into the country's agricultural value chains.

Nigeria continues to face challenges involving mechanisation, food processing, post-harvest losses, irrigation, storage, livestock production, aquaculture, agricultural financing and access to modern farming technologies.

Taiwan, meanwhile, has developed sophisticated technology-driven approaches to agriculture, including smart farming, automation, agricultural machinery, controlled-environment agriculture and data-supported production systems.

For HyCuTIPI, the objective is therefore not simply to observe what Taiwan has achieved.

The broader ambition is to identify technologies, systems and business models that could potentially be transferred, adapted or replicated within the Nigerian environment.

THE MISSION GOES BEYOND THE EXHIBITION HALL

Information from Ambassador Adejuwon indicates that the proposed programme includes a broad range of institutional and commercial engagements across Taiwan.

The Nigerian delegation intends to visit and engage with:

- Taiwanese technology and research institutions;
- ICT centres;
- Agricultural institutions;
- Aquaculture facilities;
- Livestock farms;
- Private companies;
- Technology and innovation organisations; and
- Other relevant institutions and enterprises.

These engagements are expected to provide members of the delegation with first-hand exposure to how technology is being deployed to improve productivity, efficiency, research, food production and commercial agriculture.

This could be particularly valuable for Nigerian universities and research institutions seeking practical partnerships with their Taiwanese counterparts.

B2B NETWORKING AT THE HEART OF THE MISSION

Another important component of the Taiwan mission is Business-to-Business (B2B) networking.

The delegation is expected to participate in meetings designed to connect Nigerian stakeholders directly with Taiwanese companies, investors, technology providers and other private-sector actors.

The objective is to create a platform where Nigerian stakeholders can see available technologies, discuss possible applications, explore partnerships and determine areas where Taiwanese expertise and Nigerian opportunities can intersect.

This is particularly important because technology transfer becomes more meaningful when it produces actual partnerships, investment projects, training opportunities and commercial relationships.

BUILDING ON AN EXISTING NIGERIA–TAIWAN BRIDGE

The current mission also builds on earlier efforts by HyCuTIPI to establish structured economic and technology links between Nigeria and Taiwan.

In 2025, HyCuTIPI and Taiwan-based My Exhibition Company Limited signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding in Taipei aimed at promoting bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

The areas identified included agriculture, agro-processing, livestock, poultry, aquaculture, engineering, industrial goods and other sectors, while the partnership also contemplated trade missions, B2B meetings, exhibitions and investment forums.

The 2026 delegation therefore represents a continuation and possible expansion of a relationship that HyCuTIPI has been working to develop.

SENATOR NDOMA-EGBA'S PRESENCE ADDS WEIGHT

The involvement of Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba is another major feature of the mission.

As a former Senate Leader and a respected Nigerian statesman, his participation provides an important bridge between the initiative's technology and investment objectives and Nigeria's broader institutional leadership.

His role as Grand Patron of HyCuTIPI further demonstrates the growing profile of the organisation and its ambition to attract experienced Nigerian leaders into its international development agenda.

The Senator's presence alongside university Vice-Chancellors, a technical university representative, a business executive, legal counsel and the HyCuTIPI President gives the delegation a distinctive blend of governance, academia, entrepreneurship, law and technology.

UNIVERSITIES AS ENGINES OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

The participation of university leaders could prove particularly important.

With Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole of Federal University Oye-Ekiti and Prof. Jacob Babayemi of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, among the delegates, the mission creates opportunities for discussions around research collaboration, innovation, agricultural technology, student development, technical training and institutional partnerships.

The involvement of Prof. Adesola Ajayi of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, further strengthens the technical and vocational dimension of the delegation.

For Nigeria, such partnerships could help universities move beyond conventional academic exchange towards practical collaboration involving research commercialisation, technology adaptation, innovation hubs and industry partnerships.

FROM SMART AGRICULTURE TO SMART NIGERIA

The significance of the Taiwan mission extends beyond agriculture.

The programme's planned visits to ICT centres, research institutions and technology companies suggest that HyCuTIPI is looking at the wider relationship between technology, innovation, agriculture, industry and economic development.

A successful partnership could potentially introduce Nigerian stakeholders to technologies relevant to:

Smart farming.
Agricultural automation.
Food processing.
Aquaculture.
Livestock production.
ICT and digital transformation.
Industrial engineering.
Research and development.
Technology entrepreneurship.
Skills development.
Investment and trade.

This is consistent with HyCuTIPI's stated philosophy of bringing together culture, technology, innovation and investment to create international opportunities for Nigeria.

WHAT NIGERIA STANDS TO GAIN

The ultimate significance of the delegation will be measured not simply by the number of meetings held in Taiwan but by what happens after the delegation returns to Nigeria.

If the engagements produce concrete partnerships, Nigeria could benefit through:

technology transfer;

foreign investment;

research collaboration;

agricultural modernisation;

industrial partnerships;

skills and capacity development;

business-to-business relationships;

market access; and

new opportunities for Nigerian entrepreneurs and young innovators.

That is why the Taiwan mission deserves attention beyond the usual coverage of international delegations.

It is an attempt to connect Nigeria's enormous human, agricultural and entrepreneurial potential with an economy recognised for technological and industrial innovation.

ADEJUWON'S INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT VISION

At the centre of the initiative is Ambassador David A. Adejuwon, whose leadership of HyCuTIPI has increasingly focused on creating practical international bridges for Nigerian stakeholders.

The current delegation reflects that philosophy.

Rather than limiting international engagement to ceremonial visits, the programme combines an international exhibition with institutional visits, research engagements, technology exposure, agricultural tours, private-sector meetings and B2B networking.

That structure suggests an emphasis on learning, partnership-building and practical outcomes.

A NEW CHAPTER IN NIGERIA–TAIWAN ENGAGEMENT

As the Nigerian delegation arrives in Taiwan, attention will now focus on the opportunities that emerge from its engagements.

For Nigerian farmers, universities, technology entrepreneurs, manufacturers, investors and policymakers, the most important question will be whether the technologies and relationships encountered in Taiwan can be translated into practical solutions back home.

For HyCuTIPI, the mission represents another major step in its ambition to position Nigeria within a wider global network of technology, innovation, investment and business opportunities.

And for the Nigerian delegation itself, the challenge is clear: to return from Taiwan not merely with photographs and memories, but with partnerships, knowledge, technology and opportunities capable of producing measurable impact in Nigeria.

AYEKOOTO MEDIA NG — WATCHING THE TAIWAN MISSION

As Ambassador David A. Adejuwon, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba and the other members of the delegation proceed with their engagements, Ayekooto Media NG will continue to follow developments from Taiwan.

The outcomes of the meetings, institutional visits, technology engagements and B2B discussions could provide an important indication of how far Nigeria can leverage international partnerships to accelerate agricultural transformation, technological advancement and investment.

From the lecture hall to the laboratory, from the farm to the factory, and from Taiwan's innovation ecosystem to Nigeria's vast opportunities, HyCuTIPI is attempting to build a bridge — and the world will be watching to see what crosses it.
