🔴 BREAKING: Peter Obi Storms Makinde’s APM Campaign Office in Abuja, Says Oyo Governor Is Qualified for Presidency
ABUJA — The 2027 presidential race assumed a new dimension on Monday as former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, attended the official commissioning of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Headquarters of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Abuja.
The event, held at the APM campaign headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja, formally marked the commencement of the party’s presidential campaign activities for its 2027 ticket of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura.
The opening of the campaign office had been officially announced by the Makinde campaign as the beginning of its nationwide “Reset Nigeria” movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
OBI: MAKINDE IS QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT
One of the major highlights of the event was Peter Obi’s declaration that Seyi Makinde is qualified to contest for the presidency of Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja, Obi said:
«“Yes, Seyi Makinde is qualified to contest for President.”»
Obi explained that his presence at the event was intended to demonstrate that Nigerian politicians should not approach elections with desperation, stressing that citizens should be allowed to freely choose their preferred candidate.
He further said that regardless of who emerges victorious in a genuinely free and fair election, political leaders should be prepared to work together in the interest of the country.
According to Obi, Nigeria needs a political culture that puts national development ahead of personal or partisan interests.
APM DECLARES: ‘THE JOURNEY TO RESET NIGERIA HAS COMMENCED’
Speaking at the commissioning, APM National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, described the opening of the campaign headquarters as the beginning of the party’s mission to “reset Nigeria.”
Dantalle said the APM was offering Nigerians an alternative political platform founded on competence, courage, compassion, accountability, integrity and service.
He also expressed confidence in the Makinde-Daura ticket, presenting the combination as a response to Nigerians seeking improved governance, national security, economic prosperity and a new direction for the country.
BALA MOHAMMED BACKS MAKINDE
Bauchi State Governor and APM national leader, Bala Mohammed, was also present at the event and urged Nigerians not to underestimate the presidential ambition of Governor Makinde.
Mohammed described Makinde as a tested administrator and said the APM was prepared to compete strongly in the 2027 presidential election.
OBI’S PRESENCE FUELS POLITICAL SPECULATION
Peter Obi’s appearance at the APM campaign headquarters has inevitably generated political interest, particularly because he is himself a presidential candidate on the platform of the NDC.
While some observers have interpreted the appearance as a possible indication of growing engagement among opposition political forces, there was no formal announcement at the event that Obi had endorsed Makinde, withdrawn his own presidential bid, or entered into a formal alliance with the APM.
What is firmly established, however, is that Obi attended the commissioning and publicly acknowledged Makinde’s qualification to seek the presidency.
‘RESET NIGERIA’ CAMPAIGN TAKES OFF
The commissioning represents a major step in the APM’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
The official Makinde campaign platform describes the movement as a nationwide effort focused on competent leadership, shared prosperity and a government that serves Nigerians, under the banner of “Reset Nigeria.”
With the Abuja campaign headquarters now officially operational, the Makinde-Daura campaign is expected to intensify its mobilisation and nationwide political activities as the 2027 election approaches.
For now, Peter Obi’s presence — and his unequivocal declaration that Seyi Makinde is qualified to contest for Nigeria’s presidency — has become one of the biggest talking points from the unfolding 2027 political season.
