Stepping down after a highly successful and foundational tenure, Dr. Babatunde leaves behind a legacy of academic coordination, administrative excellence, and teamwork.
A Journey of Trust and Pioneering Leadership
Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Babatunde attributed his success first to Almighty Allah for the grace to serve, and subsequently to the visionary leadership of the university. Being a pioneer officer requires building systems from the ground up, a challenge he met with outstanding dedication.
In a heartfelt note of gratitude, he paid special tribute to the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. I. Ahmed, who approved his initial appointment. He also directed deep appreciation to his mentor and "father," Prof. I. R. Muhammad—the former Dean of the College of Agriculture and the current Vice Chancellor of FUAZ.
"I deeply appreciate Prof. I.R. Muhammad for trusting my capacity enough to recommend me for the role, despite knowing me for only a few weeks at the time," Dr. Babatunde stated.
Milestones, Mentorship, and the Power of Teamwork
During his time as the College Examination Officer, Dr. Babatunde played a pivotal role in shaping the academic framework of the College. His office efficiently managed teaching schedules, learning protocols, seamless examinations, and the high-level coordination of Seminars and Colloquia.
He had the rare privilege of serving under two distinct Deans, seamlessly navigating the rigorous institutional accreditation period under the leadership of Dr. A. R. Sanda. Describing Dr. Sanda as one of the kindest and most gentlemanly administrators he has ever worked with, Dr. Babatunde noted that the accreditation phase provided him with invaluable professional experience.
Success is rarely a solo endeavor, and Dr. Babatunde made sure to give his flowers to the dedicated colleagues and Heads of Department who stood by him. He specially acknowledged Mal. Saidu Dabai, who consistently and capably held the fort whenever he was away.
Other notable colleagues who made his tenure a resounding success include:
* Dr. Muslim
* Dr. I. S. Harande
* Dr. Sa'ad Hamisu
* Hajia Khadija Zubairu Umar
* Dr. Taibatu Manga
* Dr. Munirat Ambali
* Mr. Sulaiman Atayi
* Mal. Aminu Usman, among many others who have served FUAZ with distinction.
New Horizons and a Prayer for the Future
Reward for hard work, they say, is more work. The exceptional trust placed in Dr. Babatunde during his time as CEO has already opened massive new doors for him within the institution. He has now transitioned into two critical and elevated roles as the Director of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) and the Head of the Directorate of Research and Development at FUAZ.
As he steps fully into these new capacities with a renewed commitment to giving his absolute best, he officially passed the baton to his successor, Mal. Yusuf Idi.
"I wish Mal. Yusuf Idi great success as he assumes this responsibility. May you build on the achievements of the office and take it to even greater heights. May Allah continue to bless our College and our dear University," he concluded.
From laying the academic foundation of the College of Agriculture to steering the technological and research future of FUAZ, Dr. Sikiru Akeem Babatunde’s trajectory is a brilliant blueprint of dedication and Service.
