MIDNIGHT COLLATION: Adeleke Maintains Lead with 58% Collated as Vote Buying Mars Osun Election

OSOGBO — As the collation of results from the Osun State Governorship Election stretches into the night, early data indicates that the incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party), is maintaining a strong lead, even as the electoral process is overshadowed by severe allegations of voter inducement.

According to data analyzed by Dataphyte from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV), results from 2,186 of the 3,763 polling units (representing roughly 58% of the total units across the 30 Local Government Areas) have been processed.

The Numbers Thus Far
Out of the 535,127 total votes processed in these areas:
Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party): Currently leading with 52.75%.
Bola Oyebamiji (APC): Trailing closely in second place with 44.36%.
Salaam Najeem (ADC): A distant third with 1.66%.

While voter turnout stands at about 45% in these covered areas—a slight increase from the 2022 elections—a concerning detail has emerged: over 10,122 votes have already been rejected in this initial batch.

The Weaponization of Poverty: A Bazaar at the Polls
While the technical collation proceeds, Ayekooto Media must bring unfettered accountability to the dark realities observed on the ground.

Independent field observers from multiple Local Government Areas have flagged severe electoral malpractices, noting that the election frequently devolved into an open bazaar.

There are widespread and credible allegations that political actors resorted to aggressive financial inducements to sway the electorate. Field accounts reveal that agents of the two major contenders, the Accord Party and the APC, allegedly offered voters sums ranging between N10,000 and N15,000 in exchange for their thumbprints.

Even more disturbing, some voters openly confessed to observers that their democratic choice was entirely dictated by these financial incentives, bluntly stating they would cast their vote for whichever party offered the highest amount of cash. In some instances, unscrupulous individuals admitted plans to exploit the system by attempting to vote at multiple polling locations solely to maximize their illegal payouts.

Ayekooto's Stance
As we wait for INEC to officially declare the final and conclusive results, we must ask ourselves a hard question: If leadership is purchased at N15,000 a vote, what is the true cost to the future of Osun State?

Ayekooto Media will continue to monitor the final lap of this collation and bring you the official declaration as soon as INEC announces the winner.
