The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has marked his first month in office with a renewed commitment to improving the agency’s services and strengthening partnerships that can positively impact the lives of Nigerian students and other stakeholders.
Reflecting on his first 30 days at the helm of the examination body, Prof. Aina said he had been both inspired and humbled by the enormous impact JAMB has on the lives of millions of Nigerians seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
According to him, the mandate of the Board remains clear: to serve better.
The JAMB Registrar disclosed that the Board’s activities in the past week centred largely on strategic engagements with key institutions and organisations, with the objective of developing practical solutions to issues affecting candidates and strengthening the institution’s capacity to serve the Nigerian public.
One of the major areas of focus was the strengthening of JAMB’s partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), particularly in addressing the concerns of candidates who have not been able to secure mobilisation.
The engagement, according to Prof. Aina, is aimed at finding workable solutions for affected candidates while deepening institutional cooperation between the two government agencies.
The Board also held a strategic engagement with the Dangote Foundation, further expanding its network of partnerships with major stakeholders whose interventions could contribute to educational development and improved opportunities for Nigerians.
Another important engagement was a visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), as JAMB continues to explore stronger institutional collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Prof. Aina also announced the signing of the JAMB Pension Additional Benefit Scheme, describing the development as another step towards strengthening the welfare and long-term interests of members of the Board’s workforce.
In addition, JAMB is advancing its institutional collaboration with MTN, one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunications companies, as part of efforts to leverage strategic partnerships and technology in improving service delivery.
For Prof. Aina, however, the engagements go beyond meetings, visits and the signing of agreements.
He stressed that each partnership represents a commitment to JAMB’s stakeholders and to the millions of Nigerians whose educational journeys are directly or indirectly influenced by the activities of the Board.
“These are not just meetings and MOUs,” the Registrar stated. “They are commitments to our stakeholders and to every Nigerian whose life JAMB touches.”
As he completes his first month in office, Prof. Aina said the work of repositioning the institution is still ongoing, signalling that the administration intends to maintain its momentum in the months ahead.
“We are still building.
We are still working.
For #ThePeopleWeServe,” he declared.
The latest engagements point to an administration placing considerable emphasis on collaboration, institutional partnerships and stakeholder-focused service delivery as it seeks to strengthen JAMB’s role in Nigeria’s education and admissions system.
