Nigeria's frontline troops have recorded a massive victory against insurgency in the Northeast, completely obliterating a coordinated mass abduction plot orchestrated by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists.
In a daring, intelligence-driven operation conducted in the early hours of Monday morning, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working in seamless synergy with the Police Mobile Force, intercepted a heavily armed terrorist column moving along a vulnerable transit route in Borno State.
The terrorists had already rounded up 46 students and were attempting to march them into the deep recesses of the Sambisa axis when the military locked down the perimeter.
A fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the outgunned insurgents to abandon their captives and flee into the bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds. High-ranking defense sources confirmed that all 46 students were rescued completely unharmed. The military has since deployed additional air assets and ground troops to comb the general area, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that schools remain safe zones across the nation.
