OSUN DECIDES: IReV Uploads Hit 65% as Adeleke Delivers Polling Unit Amidst Gunmen Attack at Osogbo Collation Centre

OSOGBO — The 2026 Osun State Governorship Election has entered its most critical and tense phase. As Sunday morning breaks, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) pushes forward with the collation of results, but the democratic process is currently battling a mix of grassroots jubilation and terrifying security breaches. 

While incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party) secures a massive victory in his hometown, deeply disturbing reports of armed violence have emerged from the state capital, threatening the integrity of the ongoing collation.

IReV Portal Updates: Collation Crosses the 65% Mark
INEC officials have worked relentlessly through the night to process the polling unit results. According to the latest data tracked by Ayekooto Media on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, a significant milestone has been reached.

 Results from 2,463 out of the 3,763 polling units across Osun State have been successfully transmitted and uploaded.
 This represents 65.45% of the total expected results, giving the public a much clearer picture of the fiercely contested race between Governor Adeleke and the APC’s Bola Oyebamiji.

Adeleke Sweeps Home Base in Ede
In what was an expected but highly celebrated outcome, Governor Ademola Adeleke has successfully delivered his polling unit. 

Sorting and counting at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009 (Abogunde Compound) in Ede North Local Government Area concluded with the Governor securing a landslide 421 votes, heavily defeating his opponents right in his political stronghold. The announcement of the result triggered immediate and massive street celebrations by his supporters in Ede, who are closely monitoring the statewide tallies.

Security Breach: Gunmen Invade Osogbo Ward 4 Collation Centre
However, the jubilation in Ede sharply contrasts with a terrifying breakdown of security in the state capital. 

Ayekooto Media can confirm that suspected armed thugs invaded the Ward 4 collation centre in Osogbo in the early hours of Sunday. The heavily armed hoodlums reportedly stormed the venue, shooting sporadically into the air, causing INEC ad-hoc staff, party agents, and observers to scamper for safety. 

This brazen attack represents a desperate attempt by anti-democratic elements to disrupt the collation process just as the margins begin to tighten. Security operatives have been urgently deployed to the area to restore order and secure the electoral materials, but the invasion has significantly heightened tensions across the state. 

ADC’s Internal Crisis Spills into Collation
Adding to the chaos of the night is the fierce legal and internal drama rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Reports indicate that the ADC governorship candidate, Salaam Najeem, has initiated legal action against his own party leadership and INEC over what he claims is a forged withdrawal document, leaving the party fractured right in the middle of the result collation process.

The Ayekooto Stance
As the collation progresses toward the final declaration, Ayekooto Media strongly condemns the violent invasion in Osogbo. The mandate of the Osun people must not be hijacked by the barrel of a gun. We call on the Inspector General of Police and all deployed security forces to immediately secure all remaining collation centers across the 30 Local Government Areas.
