OPERATION ZERO RANSOM: Police and Joint Forces Rescue 7 Abducted Gateway Polytechnic Students

Following eight harrowing days in captivity, the seven abducted students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade (GAPOSA) in Ogun State have been successfully rescued alive. 

The successful extraction was achieved through a massive, coordinated security operation involving multiple agencies, bringing immense relief to the parents, the academic community, and the entire state. Crucially, the rescue was executed without the payment of any ransom.

The Timeline of the Abduction
The nightmare began on a Wednesday evening when heavily armed gunmen invaded a private student hostel located along Paraga Road in Ipara-Remo, a community adjacent to the polytechnic. 

The assailants struck at approximately 8:00 PM in an operation that lasted nearly 30 minutes. Firing sporadic gunshots to instill fear, the kidnappers successfully abducted seven students and dragged them into the adjoining forests. 

The Coordinated Rescue Mission
Upon receiving the distress call, the Ogun State Government immediately activated a comprehensive security response. Governor Dapo Abiodun confirmed that the state sought aerial surveillance support from the Inspector-General of Police to track the kidnappers' movements.

The ground operation was a formidable display of inter-agency synergy, bringing together:
* The Nigeria Police Force
* The Armed Forces and the Department of State Services (DSS)
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)
* The Amotekun Corps and local hunters

In the early hours of Thursday, the combined forces stormed the kidnappers' den. 

Casualties and Arrests
The intense search-and-rescue operation yielded absolute success. All seven students were rescued alive. Two suspected kidnappers were apprehended during the raid and are currently undergoing severe interrogation to dismantle the rest of their syndicate. 

Governor Dapo Abiodun revealed that one of the victims, who sustained a gunshot injury during the initial abduction, was immediately evacuated for advanced medical attention and has successfully been stabilized. 

The Ogun State Government has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for banditry, assuring residents that the state's forests will not become a safe haven for criminal elements.
