A NEW DAWN IN ILE-IFE: FG Approves NOUN Mega Campus for Iyanfoworogi, TETFund to Bankroll Project 100%

ILE-IFE— The ancient city of Ile-Ife is on the cusp of a massive educational and socio-economic transformation. In what can only be described as a masterclass in collaborative community leadership and high-level traditional diplomacy, the Federal Government has officially approved the establishment of a Mega Campus of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Ilé-Ifè.

Following rigorous physical assessments and high-level deliberations, the serene and historically rich community of Iyanfoworogi has been exclusively selected to host this monumental federal institution, beating out five other proposed locations.

But this is not just going to be another regular study center. In profound honor of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (CFR), Ojaja II, the NOUN administration has approved an "Ife Model Centre" structured directly after the highly advanced Lagos prototype.

Zero Financial Burden on the Ife Community

Perhaps the most groundbreaking revelation from this development is the funding structure. Historically, community-driven tertiary institutions require massive fundraising efforts, levies, and financial strain on local stakeholders. However, the Ife community has been completely absolved of this burden.

The Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), will take full responsibility for building, equipping, and funding the entire Mega Campus. This multi-billion-naira federal intervention means that not a single kobo needs to be raised by the sons and daughters of Ife for the construction of this citadel of learning.

Immediate Academic Take-Off Strategy

Understanding the urgent need to bridge the educational gap, the facilitators have adopted a highly pragmatic approach to commence operations. The people of Ile-Ife will not have to wait for the completion of the permanent structures before reaping the benefits of the university.

Agreements have been concluded for academic activities to commence 'immediately' from an existing secondary school facility located within Iyanfoworogi. This temporary site will serve as the incubator for the university's pioneer students while the TETFund-backed permanent mega-structures are erected.

The Architects of the Vision

A project of this magnitude does not happen in a vacuum; it requires vision, strategy, and unyielding dedication. The realization of the NOUN Ile-Ife Mega Campus is a testament to what happens when brilliant minds unite under a progressive traditional leadership.

The core drivers of this success must be acknowledged:

His Imperial Majesty, Bàbá Ọọni: For providing the supreme fatherly backing, leveraging his immense national goodwill, and offering the royal seal of approval that made this possible.

The Ife Intellectuals (TII): Led by its Chairman, Mr. Muyiwa Adeniran, and PRO, Basir Lawal Odugbile, this group served as the strategic engine room, driving the "Towards a new Ilé-Ifè" agenda with absolute precision.

Sooko Kemade Elugbaju: Who acted as the critical connecting bridge between the Palace, the Ife community, and the NOUN administrative hierarchy, ensuring seamless facilitation of the project alongside Sooko Laekun Prince Ogunwusi and the IDB Secretary, Mr. Lawrence Omidiora.

"Ifẹ First" — The Power of Unity

The arrival of the NOUN Mega Campus in Iyanfoworogi is more than just an educational victory; it is a profound demonstration of the guiding philosophy:"When we speak in one voice, we achieve our goals collectively." This campus will bring thousands of students, researchers, and federal workers into the Iyanfoworogi axis, triggering an immediate boom in real estate, local commerce, transportation, and small-scale businesses. It is a blueprint for modern development built on the foundation of ancient heritage.

Congratulations to the people of Ilé-Ifè. The blueprint for greatness is unfolding right before our eyes.

God bless Ilé-Ifè. God bless the House of Oduduwa. God bless The Ife Intellectuals.
